Description
Plastic containers are replacing conventional metal containers and glass containers because of their comparatively better properties and ease of handling and transportation.
Small size plastic containers are used for packing of drugs, pharmaceuticals, insecticides, food items etc. The plastic blow moulded containers are made from HDPE, HMHDPE, LDPE, PP etc. Blow moulded plastic containers are finding great demand in modern era.
With latest trends in blow moulding technology and advanced machinery and National and International standards moulds and dyes, many types of packaging containers are manufactured with accurate tolerance and fine quality. These products include Pet bottles, Dropper bottles, Upper Handle bottles, Open top drums, wide mouth drums, Narrow mouth drums, Barrels, Jerry Cans & Carboys, Square Jars, Round Jars, Rib Jars, thin walled food packaging containers etc.
They are of different types and designs that are manufactured to cater the need of packaging. With high quality raw materials procurement, blow moulded articles and containers are manufactured with superior quality associated with convenient shapes and sizes, strong and sturdy construction, compact designs, compatibility, safe to use etc.
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Plastic Lab Bottles offer good strength and chemical resistance. HDPE bottles offer stronger tensile strength than LDPE containers, are harder and more opaque.

Since the early seventies, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) has been the polymer of choice for the production of bottles. These bottles are cornering the market for packaging liquids such as detergents, cosmetics, lubricants and dairy products, a market whose scope has opened up a multitude of potential applications for HDPE.
In this market that was far from maturity level, growth could be realized in virtually every segment of application. At present, cartons, pouches and bottles made of HDPE, polypropylene, PET and polycarbonate compete for space on retailers’ shelves. Glass bottles have lost market share and are now holding their own in just a few traditional segments.
The features which make HDPE the first choice are the following:
• Highly cost-effective material
• Excellent fitness for use
• Wide-ranging design potential and processing flexibility,
This report is to examine the financial viability or otherwise of establishing a 220 L Double L-ring drum production plant in Lagos using High-density polyethylene (HDPE) as the raw material.
The proposed plant comprises of one set of Extrusion Blow molding machine BMS200-220L (20 pcs /hr of 10 kg weight each), Aluminum mould (For Double L-ring 220L drum), Spring auto loader (700 kgs capacity), Mixer (200 kgs capacity), Half automatic leakage tester (For testing of leakage), Water chiller (30 Hp capacity), Piston compressor (1 cmb/min), AGO storage tank (50 MT Tank), Generator (500 KVA), Project Vehicle (Fairly Used Two Ten Tons Truck, One Brand New Toyota Corrolla and One Brand New Staff Buses), Forklift (5 tons), Wood Pallets (For Placing of the raw materials and finished products) and Transformer (500 KVA).
The output of the machine is a function of the capacity as well as the thickness of the product to be produced. The plant would produce twenty (20) pcs per hour of 10 kg weight each of two hundred and twenty (220) L Double L-ring drum.
The plant would operate at seventy-five percent (75%) of the installed capacity for double (2) shifts of eight (8) hours eachin the first, second, third, fourth and fifth year of operations respectively and producing 240 pcs per day and working for twenty – five (25) days per month would produce twelve thousand (12,000) pcs bi-monthly.
The market for 220 L Double L-ring drum is national. With a population of over 165 million people and an estimated national population growth rate of 5.7% per annum, an average economic growth rate of 3.5% per annum in the past five (5) years, Nigeria has a large market for two hundred and twenty (220) L Double L-ring drum.
