Soaps are cleaning products that have become an essential part in our daily lives. Cleaning products play an essential role by safely and effectively removing dirts, germs and other contaminants, and thus promote a hygienic lifestyle. There are therefore, indispensable items as a daily requirement in homes, offices, schools, hospitals, restaurants etc

The product is in great demands in Nigeria. Considering the estimated national population of one hundred and seventy-five (175,000,000) million and per capita consumption of 30 tablets, the national demand for soap is estimated at 4,950 million tablets per annum.

This report seeks to examine the financial viability or otherwise of establishing a toilet soap production plant in Lagos, Nigeria.

The production capacity of the proposed plant is 100 kg of 125 g tablets of toilet per hour and comprises of the mixer, plodders/extruders and soap stamper. The raw materials required for production is soap noodles, fragrances, coloring agent, wrappers and cartons.

The plant would operate at seventy (70%) percent of the installed capacity and would operate for eight (8) hours per day in three hundred (300) working days per annum. Based on the above assumptions, the plant would produce four thousand, four hundred and eighty (4,480) pcs of 125 g tablets of toilet soap per day.
