There are basically two types of ice block namely
1. Dry Ice
2. Anti-freeze Ice
Dry Ice: This is the type of ice block made with polythene {nylon} bags and is the sizes are a function of the nylon bags.
Anti- freeze Ice: This involves the use of chemicals to make the block form faster that the required time. They are usually in containers and ice block formed through this method are called mould.
Ice block making machine usually comes in different capacity, efficiency and price. There is also the locally fabricated and the imported models.
The capacity and efficiency of the machine is usually tied to the number of ice blocks that can be produced under a given time usually 12 hours or 24 hours. Some of the capacities available include 60 moulds, 100 moulds, 120 moulds and 200 moulds of ice block per 12 hours.
Other machines required to start operations includes generator, accommodation, nylon bags and a source of water.
