Description

Plastic shopping bags, carrier bags or plastic grocery bags are a type of shopping bag made from various kinds of plastic. Polythene bag has become very essential part of our everyday life.

Usage of polythene bags for packaging is increasing day by day. Polythene bags are widely used in daily life with every household using it for varied purposes of packaging and storage. They are considered to be more convenient for packing products.

There is ever increasing demand for the polythene bags in the market. Now a days, all shop keepers and sellers of any products are using polythene bags for packing purpose.

Shopping bag can be produced from HDPE or LDPE material. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polyethylene high-density (PEHD) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. Known for its large strength to density ratio, HDPE is commonly used in the production of plastic bottles, corrosion-resistant piping, geomembranes, and plastic lumber.

Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a thermoplastic made from the monomer ethylene. It was the first grade of polyethylene, produced in 1933 by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) using a high pressure process via free radical polymerization.

The plant would also require printing plant and ink for printing.

The proposed plant would comprise of film blowing machine ,T bag making machine , printing machine and Plastic Grinding Milling Granulator. The Printing machine is put together with film blowing machine.

The plant would operate at 90% of the installed capacity working double shifts of 8 hours each in 300 day per annum. The plant would produce 80,640 pcs per day of 350 mm * 380 mm shopping bag of 0.1 mm thickness.

This feasibility report seeks to examine the financial viability or otherwise of establishing polythene shopping bag production plant in Nigeria using 100% recycled material as raw material.
